Take Me Back to the Acoustic ClubHey! This is my web app tool to help you visualize the fretboard. It focuses on everything I cover in my system of Fretboard Mapping. The tool is best used in conjunction with my courses, Fretboard Mapping 101, 202 and onward, all a part of the many courses included in Alex's Acoustic Club. This is a preview of the tool but will still get you very far in visualizing and practicing G major all across the fretboard. I hope this helps you a lot.
Start by selecting a key at the top, then choose a view — CAGED Shapes, Major Scale, Major Pentatonic, or 3 Notes Per String. Each view shows a different way to see the same notes on the neck.
Use the shape buttons (C, A, G, E, D) to move through positions up the neck. Toggle Show Roots, All Notes, Degrees or Names to change what's displayed on each dot.
Click any dot on the fretboard to hear that note. Open the ⚙ Tools panel to play through the scale ascending or descending, or set a capo — the shapes will shift up the neck accordingly.
Hit ♩ to reveal the drone and metronome. Play the drone in your key while you practice shapes to train your ear, and use the click to keep time.
